End of the year Newsletter- 2011
This has been the most successful year yet for the YRC!!! We have more people doing more races than ever before!! To give you an idea of how we have grown...this whole concept of a Yorktown Running Club first started out with 4 guys who was doing some morning training runs 3 years ago. Now, we have more than 80 people on our email list. Here is a list of "wins" we have seen in the last year:
1. The YRC now has a website!!! Thank you Blake Everhart for your help
2. The YRC has a Facebook page!!! Thank you Chris Day
3. We made 2 different shirt orders (and there has been a lot of interest in another shirt order....stay tuned)
4. Members of the YRC has participated in MANY different races throughout the country. A list of a few that I know of are:
*Indy Mini Marathon= We had over 40 YRC members and there yellow shirts running the streets of Indy!!!
*Race for Play= Directed by two of our own YRC members, Shanon Reigle and Amanda Webster
*Four For the Fourth= Directed by a few of our YRC members: Pete Olsen, Chris Day, Norm Aul, Ted Johnson, Audry Jones
Bob Ratchford
*Chicago Marathon
*Indianapolis Monumental Marathon
*Indianapolis Marathon at Fort Ben
*Las Vegas Rock and Roll Mini Marathon
*Disney Marathon and Mini Marathon
*Mudathalon
*Muncie Mini Marathon
5. We have several new members to the YRC and also new members who have just started to run and complete there first half marathons!!!
And I am sure there are several other races that people have raced that I dont know about. My guess is that this list will continue to grow with both people and races. Great job by all!!!
I will be reaching out to all in the next couple of weeks and provide with some training ideas that we might want to keep in mind as we will be approaching our race season in May. I know it sounds like a long way away, but we all know that the work starts much earlier than May!! Until then, I hope that you are still running and keeping that running base that you have worked so hard to do. It will come in very helpful once we start our training in Jan!!! Yes......I did say January!!
Until then....Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Happy Running
Ted
